Team Acceleracers, MIT Pune car for Supra SAE India 2012.
Congratulations, how much does the car weigh?

Jon
I dont know man, there is something wrong about your car...
Thanks,
There is a lot wrong with our car!

Jon
@Jon.
Sorry for replying so late...
The car weighed 404 kg (with driver,pushbar and extinguisher). Thats the way they weigh in India..
I know its still too much, but we are learning and improvising. You can expect still lighter and better car next year.
Thanks.
@Sarim
We do know there were some shortcomings in the car.
We are improvising on those issues.
Thanks anyways.

I notice that you said you are/were "improvising" to make your car better in the aspects you have stated. Instead of improvising, shouldn't you be planning and engineering a solution to your problems instead of a sort of "guess and check" approach?Originally posted by Saurabh Jain:

Also, to decrease weight, I'd probably start with that seat. No driver should ever need to be that comfortable

@Steve
I never said that we are guessing and checking.
By 'improvising ' I indeed meant looking for engineering solutions as you rightly said.
Yup seat is surely the area of improvement.. Apart from that many other flaws have been realised and efforts are being made to bring out a better car next year.
Thank you.
@Saurabh
What rules are you designing too?

Jon
@Jon
I am an alumni now!
Last year we designed for the Supra SAE India rules.
But current team is designing on the lines of international rules.
More important than that, they are concentrating on the basic mistakes which Indian teams have been making (we too.. ) and efforts are being made to make a better car acceptable to international judges.
