General Summary: Reports to Engineering Manager. Installs and calibrates data systems on race cars. Logs, interprets, and distributes data. Organizes, maintains, and handles all instrumentation and data systems. Provides support to Race Engineer(s). Fits race and test trailers with proper parts for each specific event. Compiles reports after each test.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
• Installs and calibrates data system on test cars.
• Unloads and sets up test equipment at the track/test facility.
• Check data systems, sensors, and components to ensure data equipment is working properly for testing.
• Assembles spare sensor package(s), travel kit, and organizes telemetry cart. Ensure all data equipment is loaded on test trailer.
• Conducts pull down rig tests and summarizes the results in a report to present to Crew Chief and Race Engineer(s).
• Logs, graphs, verifies, and interprets test data. Distributes test data to Engineer(s) and Crew Chief.
• Documents changes and comments during testing in SHR software/run logs.
• Removes data system from test cars after testing. Cleans, inspects, tests, and re-organizes data system to prepare for next test.
• Writes summary report at the conclusion of all testing to distribute to SHR staff.
• Provides assistance to Race Engineer(s) by rating springs, installing and calibrating data system on cars for 7-Post, changing car parts to optimize handling, assist in data analysis, utilize suspension software to analyze suspension geometry and kinematics, performing shock and bump stop/rubber testing.
• Changes parts on the race/test trailers to suit the test plans for the event being loaded for. Sorts, organizes, and documents all springs, anti-roll bars, spring hardware, etc. Provides trailer inventory documentation to Crew Chief and Race Engineer(s).
• Supports various shop activities due to shifting weekly priorities. May assist with data acquisition in 7-Post/Aero groups and engineering projects.
• Assumes any responsibilities delegated by the Crew Chiefs or Engineering Manager.

Education and Work Experience:
BS in Mechanical Engineering required. Typically requires 2 years of experience in automobile racing, preferably NASCAR. Professional experience in electronic systems and/or support.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of data acquisition systems, data analysis, driver and lap time comparisons. Strong knowledge of chassis engineering, vehicle suspension and dynamics. General knowledge of building and racing a car. Strong analytical skills and advanced problem solving abilities. Proven CAD and basic fabrication skills. Strong written and oral communication, teamwork, and people skills.

Equipment and Applications:
Computer, Pi/Cosworth software/hardware, basic hand tools, digital volt-ohm meter, oscilloscope, spring rater, shock dyno, Microsoft software, general wiring, and metal fabrication tools/equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity. Repeated bending and squatting. Able to work long hours and flexible work schedule. Able to handle stressful situations. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes race cars, 7-Post equipment, welding operations, heavy machinery, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
