Hi all,

I have just purchased the type II torsen diff and I am now looking into making a housing for it. Due to rear end packaging I am forced to have the sprocket on the outside of the diff mounts. The sprocket is also acting as a brake disk. To do this I was thinking to use the large input spline to make a flange that the sprocket could be mounted to and have the stub axle going through the centre of it. This would mean that I could use the large input spline surface and the surface on the other side as bearing surfaces for my diff mounts.

The problem with this is sealing the diff.

I was just wondering what options there are for sealing a rotating shaft that moves slightly axially (stub axle) and if anyone has some drawings or photos that may give me some better ideas on sealing and mounting the diff.

Also how do other teams add breathers to the diff?

Thanks alot for your help it is greatly appreciated.

Daniel
