Hi all
Is there any difference between the PC35 F4i and the PC37 (CBR 600RR) engine except the fuel injection? (other camshafts, pistons,... lower weight or something like that)
I have a source for a good RR engine, but I don't know if it's worth the extra money, because a wrecked RR engine is extremly rare here.

I don't know what you mean 'besides the fuel injection.' They are both fuel injected engines, and a totally different design. They do share the same bore and stroke, but thats about it.

There is aside from the hi-lo injection. The gear box is semi stacked so the engine as a whole is shorter, they have taken mass out of the reciprocating parts, I don't know how much.
There are other things and you should be able to find this out when you visit one of the honda web sites around the world. Click on features when viewing the RR.
They don't seem to state power figures even though they do for the F4i.

O.k. thanks!
I thought the RR is a normal F4i with a modified fuel injection.
So, what would you prefer, the F4i or the RR engine?

My thinking (I think Charie's will be similar) is that unless you have a need for the shorter packaging of the RR, the f4i will be a better way to go. Parts and extra engines will be more easily within reach and the extra revs gained won't help with the restrictor. There can be no question that lighter reciprocating parts will be beneficial but is it worth the extra cost for the insurance of extra parts and the established help that will be everywhere for the f4i? I don't think so. But thats just me.

In my opinion when coosing between the late model 600cc sportbike engines, engine performance is basically a moot point. They should all give about the same performance. Look at how the engine will integrate into your intended chassis and vehicle design, as that will impact your vehicle's performance more IMO. The 600RR is similar to the R6, with an elevated transmission and shorter overall length than the F4i. It's probably no more than a pound or so lighter overall. For our car I prefer the F4i.

We purchased a 600RR and the oil pan is about 5 inches tall. Without dry sumping the engine, it wouldn't be advantagous to use.

Hardrocker,
Have you guys weighed your RR motor yet? Would you be willing to share?

I'd be interested in weight too.

Does anybody here use a CBR600 RR in their formula car?
If so are there any advantages you have found with it appart from the fact that its smaller and slightly lighter. How does the restrictor affect the engine?
We are currently trying to make a decision between the two engines and so far we are leaning towards the RR.
Any info would be appreciated.
