I have large number of VRML based models for a car that I'm trying to import into any of the cad packages.

I don't need to translate it into solids, I just need to be able to open up in a cad package (preferably solid edge or proe), for constraining other parts.

I can load the files in Catia, but when I try to export to IGES or STEP, I loose all the content.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Akos

I'm not sure what CATIA does, but in SolidWorks, when you export to IGES or STEP, you can choose to export solids, surfaces, 3D sketches, etc. If it's VRML, it's probably surfaces. See if you can change your export options.

There are a couple settings under tools>options>compatiblity>IGES that change how your IGES saves and it makes a big difference in what comes out.

If you attach one of your files, You'd have a lot of people on the forum trying to figure it out as a matter of manly, exuse me, personly pride. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
