UNH is looking into holding a friendly competition sometime this summer at New Hampshire International Speedway. We talked to Brown and WPI at competition. Are any other teams interested?

I'd love to make it up, but it's a bit of a trek, plus our car broke http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. It was great talking to you guys for a while though, thanks

We're interested! Pending our car being in one piece after FSAE West.

RPI is definitely interested, we haven't gone to an autocross at NHIS in 3 years and would love to return. I know there is an SCCA sanctioned autocross in August, is UNH looking into hosting a seperate event or trying to get multiple teams to compete in an already scheduled race?

If the race is a few weeks after Formula Student Germany, we would be interested.

I think I can get a few members from UNH's Car 36 (first year car) interested. I don't think we will have too much trouble firing up the ol' monster.

We have to clear everything with the track first and work out a day with them. We would have access to one of their parking lots that we use to test our car. As soon as we talk to the track and set a date I'll let you all know.

Is this still going to happen? If so, the few of us from MIT that are here for summer would definitely be there. Also, if there is anything that i/we can do to help out, please let me know.

Sorry to disappoint everyone. We talked to the track and for insurance reasons we will not be able to use their facilities for a competition.

Carin, talk to them again and say it's a practice session or similar. That usually solves insurance issues...

The issue is more with the size of the space available to us and the number of people that would be there. One team is as much as they will allow with safety as the main concern. If I find a larger venue, I will let you know.

Carin, if you find a larger venue (or talk NHIS into this), please let me know....with a few weeks' notice, I'm sure that Dartmouth could put together a car to bring down for something like this

Carin - would UNH be willing to travel? We've used the Claremont Speedway in Claremont, NH in the past for track days. It's a small oval with crossing pavement in the infield (ie from the air, track looks like a circle with an x through it). I don't know for sure, but we might be able to set something up there. It's a bit of a drive for both schools, but it might be a lot of fun to do something like an FSAE version of the Granite Bowl haha

UNH would definitely be willing to travel if something can be set up.

cool...I'll look into Claremont and find some dates. Do you think it'd be worth checking with NHIS and seeing if we could rent out their parking lot for some "joint practice time" or something like that?

I'll check with NHIS and see if they will allow it. They may be open to the idea if it is planned as a testing day rather than a competition.

OK cool. We have a pretty good relationship with them because of formula hybrid, so you may want to mention that it would be you and us, and describe the event as a joint testing day. I think it might also help if we said that we would only have one car running at a time and that we would have team members flagging, manning extinguishers, etc. I'll check here to see if we have any specific contacts from the formula hybrid event organization as well. Also, how do you think the format should run? I've got a few ideas, but this was your idea first, so I don't want to step on your toes there. If you don't mind, could you please shoot me the details in an email? It'd probably be easier to work out logistics and details that way...my address is mhart@dartmouth.edu. Thanks

would there be any way we here at MIT could squeeze in, if you guys have such an event? We would love to sieze such an opportunity. If there is anything that we can do, please let us know.

When are you planning on having this event and is it open to other schools in our region? I know a bunch of us at UMass-Lowell would be interested in bringing our car up (assuming it's ready) or just spectating if you guys are cool with that (none of us have seen one of these in action and are dying to).
Thanks.

It looks like the event will have to be next spring. I'm not sure when, but we'll post up more details (eg time, location, teams, etc) when they get worked out.

Hey everyone, just saw this thread, I'd be willing to help out trying to get this together so let me know whats going on. I am WPI's team captain this year. Should have one of our older cars running here soon and this years car in a month and a half or so...we hope. Keep us updated!
