To all you electrical people out there,

I'm trying to track down a supplier for the connectors used on two components off an F4i engine.

First is the NipponDenso Connectors for the COP's. I have found one company that sells similar plugs, but the keying doesn't match. Previously we have used the subharness of the bike (available from honda) however this year we really just need the connectors with uncrimped pins.

Secondly the connector for the bike's starter relay, previously run of the mill spade connectors were used, however the positive locking of the connector is not possible with this configuration, vibration issues ensued.

I figure, I might be able to get the connector from a wrecker and just replace the pins (stadard retaining splades, I think!).

With so many teams using the f4i, I figured that at some point someone has been able to track down these components.

Any help would be appreciated.

Doesn't answer your question directly but hopefully it can help you in your search. You may be able to find a matching molex connector that will lock with your starter relay... that has worked for me in the past; however, a new starter relay with bolt on terminals Also I know that the f4i connectors for the cop is the same as our yamaha yfz450 cop plugs, so you can expand your search to the yamaha cop plugs and maybe find something (I know this because we have an f4i and a yfz in our shop and I have interchanged them). I'll keep my eye out though and let you know if I find anything because I too am looking for uncrimped connectors

One of our previous guys had a really neat idea when it came to finding connectors for this coil. attach your individual leads with spades or what have you then epoxy them in place. These coils have a fantastic reliability rate, so replacement shouldn't be that big of an issue. Just a thought...

K&L motorcycle supply sells those plugs and terminals. Google them, call them, and ask for the temporary password and login to the dealer section of the website so you can check the catalog.

Looking at the picture, it is the same as the R6 COP. Also, I am led to believe that the YZF450 coil connectors are common to ford modular v8s.

Looks like it is fairly common. I'm still yet to find a source for them yet (aside from chopping and reusing old ones from wreckers)

edit: beaten

I think I would probably be lynched by the team for doing something so "dodgy". There are many many many things wrong with that idea.

You can add the GSX-R600 COP plugs to the list of ones compatible with the F4i

Obviously you should try to find the proper connectors first, but there is something to be said for have a "just in case" plan for everything... besides, it is a very sturdy solution and will prevent many a new guy from pulling the wires out of the connectors in their haste to remove the coils.

You may find it shady, but the judges seemed to deem it an acceptable solution last year...

Seems like a few places have them.

I found them on www.bmotorsports.com (http://www.bmotorsports.com) and just searched for coil on plug in the search box. They have the male and female sides and have them available as a connector kit (with terminals and seals) and as a pigtail.
