What are some of the lower spring rates being used for suspension setups. I'm just curious because when I do my calculations I get a wheel frequency of ~6.7 hz with a 50 lb/in spring and it seems a little off to me. anyway I double checked my calcs so I guess I'd be interested to compare.

Just remember to use consistent units:

Mass in slugs
Spring rate in pounds per foot

so that factor of 12/32.2 can screw up your calculations pretty good http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well I'm not that familiar with US customary units but I am converting a spring rate Kt = 701 lbs/in => 122675 N/m. I guess if this number is off obviously I'm gonna be wrong but unless I'm missing something ..... SLEEP

CL,
Can you post your entire calculations here? 701 lbs/in sounds good for Kt, but what about Ks and IR, and the quarter-car sprung mass? Or, are you trying to find the wheel hop natural frequency?
