Hi,
How are teams attaching their runners to the intake port of their engines?
Are teams using large diameter flexible hoses with clips to secure them?
Does anyone know where to get some flexible hoses of around 44mm internal diameter?
Thanks in advance

We use the F4 intake boots to attatch the intake to the engine then we use a solid mount from the intake the the cylinder head to satisfy the rules. I have been a little reluctant to create a solid mount from the runners to the ports because I have always been concerned about leakage and so far have had no problems with the boots and leakage.

We used the stock throttle body as part of our runners because it locks onto the head really well...the way we did this is pull the throttle plates out of each bore and seal all the holes with jbweld, so that the throttle body just acts like a passage way and nothing more...if we want/need longer runners, I would just have to attach hose to the end that isn't attached to the head.

Thanks for the replies.
I've also been thinking about the new rules where the plenum has to be attached to the engine block now instead of other things like frame members or firewalls etc.
How much FEA was done one the intakes to ensure it won't rattle loose, or did most teams just bung on a bracket cut out of sheet or scrap metal lying around?

you really need just a token gesture at actually attatching it. I know of a team that was told in tech to mechanically fasten the head in Detroit last year, they put a thin piece of Ti from the intake to the thermostat (F4i). Passed tech and after the comp was over all it took was a firm tug with the forefinger to break it in half. Seriously, sometimes you just need to have it on there because the judges say so, whether it actually works or not doesn't seem to be an issue.

Regarding the question of supply sources try Blackwoods (national engineers supply chain) or a place installing wall ovens which use a vent duct hose and will usually supply small volume orders.
I am not exactly sure of the most common size so you may need to ask a few places.
Cheers , Pete.
