I'm looking for any help on the design of roll bars for independent suspensions. Are there any good references or simple designs?

Hey- two common designs would be a OEM style u-shaped bar with endlinks- center mounted to the chassis, endlinks on your lca's. This setup is simple and easy to do all the calcs for, but can look terrible if not fabricated well. Another common solution is a T-bar type mounted to the chassis and actuating off of the bell cranks; these are usually small and light, but a little tougher to fabricate (imho). Another benefit of the t-bar is that you can use blade-type elements for the actual roll arms, which makes it easy to use a driver-adjustable setup.

We have ran a "U-bar" since the team started with multiple holes drilled along the links and just moved them according to whatever roll resistance we wanted. This system has worked well for us and was the easiest to package with our chassis design. We also actuated the bar off our bell cranks instead of our control arms. Both set-ups can be made compact and work well. I would just look through the photo archives there are many pictures showing teams sway bar setups, to get a starting point.
