Has anyone been able test real time data using Race Studio software. The software comes with the Aim Motorsports Pista Dash. I was wondering if anyone had any success with this dash as it pertains to real time diagnostics.

Thanks,
Mike F

I know we've used the AIM. I forget the model we used but it wasn't too fancy. It had 2 internal accelerometers and 4-6 inputs. We were however able to connect our ECU directly to the AIM datalogger and record more then the 4-6 channels it had. This makes thing more available for more sensors on the cheap. The good thing was the ECU data and AIM data was setup to be on the same time interval so everything could be overlayer in the AIM analysis software or exported to excel and worked over until your hearts content. Look on the AIM website for instructions and capability of your model, thanks where we found everything for ours.

ive used the pista dash recently, and it does support real time diagnostics. The display rate is pretty slow, so I dont know if it will suit your need. Select the "online" tab in race studio and it will show you the channels and their current values (if it is logging).

I made a system that sat on the can lines of an mxl, and sent it over a radio system to our laptops back in the paddock.

I had to go through some paperwork to get the information from the guys @ aim.

I assume you are talking about the possibility of having a wireless connection. It is possible, but you need to have your own personnel programing, software, and hardware skills well sorted out, if you hope to not waste too much of your time.

We had data streaming to out laptops and blackberry's, at a pathetic 10hz max ( as mandated the our aim system). Usually things are happening too fast on the track to make it full y useful for real time interrogation of the system.

Thanks for the response guys.

Are you telling me that the connection delay makes the need of real time unnecessary. Is the delay too long to overcome the advantages or real time telemetry. Also, what was the benfit to sending information to your PDA. I am looking at the most cost effective way of doing this if its worth it. Anyone think it isnt?

I'm not even sure if it is possible to log data realtime through Race Studio. 10 hz is pretty much useless for anything but thermocouples

We had a self-developed real time telemetry last year in our car for all the data being recorded. We will do a step back this year and will only transmit vital car data like oil pressure, oil temperature, refs, water temp etc. Because in our opinion there is no need in real time analyzing wheel travel or something like this.

Has anyone had any luck with telemtry on an Aim MXL system?
Thanks!
