Can anyone help me with the housing design for the taylor race tripod bearings. I got the tech drawing of their web site and tried to reproduce a drawing by scaling the given measurements but i still dont know if i did it right because im not sure how the tripod bearing fits in the housing, tight, loose, a little slack, etc. Any help would be appreciated

The bearings themselves are about 1.00" and if you make the bearings race 1.01" you should be fine. This info was passed down to me from another school who talked to the guys at Taylor Race.

Our housings are machined to 1.003" Works fine.

Awesome guys thanks for the information, i believe that the cause of my mistake in the sample housing i made was the distance of the center of the inch diameter circle to the center of the housing, do any of you know this distance?

The three 1 inch circles are on a base circle with diameter of 1.6 inches.

Do you machine away a center bore of 1.6 in or bigger/smaller than that?
We have drawn out housings with 1.6 in center bore, but it seems that it's smaller diameter on the Taylor tulips.

Did you even go to thier website?
Sorry, I'm not trying to be harsh, and to be even more fair, I haven't checked recently, but I know I've pulled PDF drawings off of thier site.
I have gone to their website. But the drawing did not have any dimensions. It just had holes to be drilled and the width.
