Rule 3.4.11 Batteries states that the hot terminal must be insulated on all cars.
Is using the little red boot what people normally do? Our battery is fully encapsulated in a plastic box, so I feel like between the boots and the box...we are sufficient. Anyone have any comments or experiences?

FWIW, at the 2007 Detroit Comp we did use the little red boot, and during our last (and best) Autocross run a bolt was picked off the track (wasn't even off our car) and got lodged under the boot and grounded the battery against our firewall. The engine immediately cut off and wouldn't restart, so we had to be towed off the course.
Needless to say, we'll have a better battery cover this year.
