Can anyone suggest a good place to get side view mirrors? Do any websites have them?

two years ago we drew up a mirror frame in pro-e and made it on a rapid prototype machine. then we cut some mirrored plastic and glued to to the front. they were super light and got the job done. you can also make any crazy shapes you want.

You actually don't require side mirrors if you are able to see 200 degrees I think. In 2003 we tested this out and found that 200 degrees actually isn't very hard to achieve. With the amount of time that is put into dropping ounces off the car it might be worth it to take a seat in the car and test this out before shelling out money and having to add mounts.

It may be difficult to achieve if you have your driver tucked under the roll hoop... But yes, I agree, get a seat in the car and test it out!

We haven't had mirrors on our past two cars and visibility is fine. We don't plan on adding them this year either.

yeah, we've also been running without.
If you want mirrors, I would suggest making them. Grab a stick-on "blind spot" mirror, and make your own housing/mounting. A fiberglass pot, and an aluminum rod attached to the frame is what I am thinking, and glue the mirror into it. I haven't done this yet, but it is my plan to retrofit the '04 car with such a setup.
