Does anyone use AP calipers? If not, what do you use? Thanks.

Some teams use Ap calipers, mainly from motorcycles. We used Ap racing master cylinders and Willwood Calipers. The master cylinders amazing, and the calipers fine.

Last year we built the master cilinders and the calipers, and they worked great besides the lack of testing.

Using Wilwood calipers will help you in the cost report because they are less expensive than Ap racing. Althoug theres a model that is as cheap as the wilwoods.

We used dual outboard AP calipers on the rear last year and got them very small and very light. As you would expect, they are very expensive. However, we like them and are putting them on all four wheels this year.

Which model are you using?

I'll jump in here as we are an AP importer. The boys in England inform me that the CP3696 is the lightest standard 2-piston automotive caliper that they make. It weights in at 800g. If you use their M/C stuff you can do a 2-piston at 240g(CP4226), however they make a beautiful little 4-piston monoblock that hits the scales at 650g(CP4488). On a side note the AP stuff is the best money can buy, but AP knows that, so bring your checkbook. Take care.

AP calipers were way to expensive for our budget and in the past we have had very good luck with the Wilwood Dynalite Singles. Its a 2 piston caliper that gets the job done, is relatively light and is only around 80 dollars US.

I am thinking about the cp3696 calipers.. they are a bit on the expensive side though. Anyone have any luck with Wilwood, other than the dynalite singles?

Brunel Racing use the smallest AP rear motorcycle brake caliper available (http://www.apracing.com/motorcycle/caliper/data.asp?family=CP4226) on both front and back. It has worked well for the past few years, but we are increasing the size of our front caliper this year...

We use the same ones as Brunel.

Delft used the CP4226 in 03 and 04, two on front one on the rear. Of course weight is what we were aiming at, luckilly sponsoring did great last year... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But AP's are very reliable. MCs we used were Brembo's. Quite nice and small.
