Hey,

Does anyone have a Cad Model of a Torsen T-2 diff? I would like to get a head start on some of the math and a CAD file would be a great asset while I'm waiting to get a Torsen T-2 to take my measurments from.

If you have one please e-mail it to buchok@ou.edu.

Thanks,

your icon looks like the a cross between some alfred hitchcock movie cover and the guy who plays "stuart" on MAD TV.

the 012000 is the type 2, and the M021DHU is for the type 1.

Are you sure about that?

"Type 1 (T-1) University Special (012000), the assembled unit cost is $495.00 each."

T-2's are out of miata's or rav4's.

also from torsens' site,
"We cannot supply a drawing for any other differential other than the University Special"

My understanding is that the the 012000 and M021DHU are both T1 type diffs. They use a crossed axis gear setup. I think the major difference between those two is the housing itself. The 012000 has a 1 piece housing while I believe the old DHU has a 2 piece housing.

The T2 diff uses a parallel axis gear design and is not offered directly by Torsen for FSAE teams.

You guys are right. The T2 is from a miata or rav4. The T2 gear axis are all parallel.

"At the present, the Type 1 University Special is the only differential and drawing that we can supply to FSAE teams. While this may change in the future, a team wishing to use a Type 2 must currently go to a junkyard or a car dealer's parts counter. We cannot supply a drawing for any other differential other than the University Special" -Torsen.com FSAE FAQ

Have any teams ever tried to make a full aluminum housing T2?
