I am an FSUK 2013 participant.
Our team has bought the standard impact attenuator but we found that it protrudes outside the front bulkhead by around 30 mm in transverse direction.
1.Will this be fine, if our attenuator is only marginally protruding outside the front bulkhead ?
2. Or else can we chamfer edges of attenuator by 30 mm so it fits?

Looks like Luniz is in a bad mood...

He's right about the rules though, if you read them your question will be answered. I'm not going to do that for you. I have better things to do but I can say with some certainty that it probably wouldn't be allowed. At any rate its not a good idea.

Oh yes I am in a bad mood, about some lazy people that keep coming to this forum and asking horrendously stupid questions.

Open the FSAE-Rules pdf file, at the Point where it says "Standard IA" it says that more information can be found at FSAEonline.com. If you go there, you'll find a link that says "Impact attenuator info" . Under that link you will find two informations:

1.) You are not allowed to alter the geometry of the standard IA

2.) The dimensions of the standard IA, so how come anyone can be as stupid and build a bulkhead which is smaller than that???
