Hey guys,

This year my team is in the process of developing carbon fiber rims. We have already built and tested a prototype, but will most likely have to make some design changes. We are fairly certain that we will use the wheels this year. However, there is a possibility that we will not be ready to do so.

I know it is probably not a good idea to cover things in the design report that don't end up on the car. But, if we have put a significant amount of work into developing CF wheels, and it is still probable that we will use them, should we include them in the design report?

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,

I would include if you feel it fits in line with what you are trying to do. Even if you don't use them because you had some reliability issues during testing that's fine. Document it and bring that with you to design. From my experience in the design event, it's ok if things don't work out the way you thought. Just make sure you understand why and be able to explain that.

Be honest? You're testing with them.
