We had our schools engineering expo today, we put the suspension, drivetrain, steering and wheels on our old 06 car for a show piece and after a day, we were too tired to take it apart and needed to get it out of the hallway back into our shop.....so we did:

That is the ONLY way down to our shop which is in the basement of the engieering building....

On a side note, I think we found our next endurance driver:

that used to be the ONLY way in and out of our "shop" (note the "") It sucks. motivates a lighter car for sure!

Wouldnt this be better suited for the off topic forums? Seriously, there have been so many Off Topic posts in Open discussion it has been ridiculous.

no, show me 10 good topics that have been disussed here this last month and I will consider it, most are just ppl showing there cars off and things like that, which is fine with almost everyone here. I would rather be entertained in the process of learning then just reading through pages of arguments about what people think is the best way to do something.

Where did you guys get that steering gearbox? Might be interested in one for a little side project...

You mean the right angle drive I assume? I know it wasnt that cheap, I will look when I am in the shop next.

I'm not sure about that one but I know McMaster has right angle gear boxes in that style and approximate size.

Let me be the first to recommend NOT buying this. We used that on our '06 car and the gears completely wore out by the end of the endurance. It appeared that the teeth wore down and just created a massive amount of slack.

I recommend a universal joint from Aircraft Spruce.

We have run that right angle box for 3-4 years now and its still tight as "someone who keeps compalining about off topic thread"s younger sister.

I will look what brand it is for you guys.

yeah we had to deal with the whole 90-degree-car-up-the-stairs thing when one of our former team managers decided he wanted the car on the second floor of the building (our shop is in the basement) for his thesis presentation. thankfully that was our lightest car (378 lbs wet, weighed at comp) yet.

There is another forum option that is getting started with more organization and moderation, if you don't like the fsae.com moderation.

www.fsaenetwork.com/forums (http://www.fsaenetwork.com/forums)

Is this a forum you started? Doesnt look like much has happened over there yet.

Is there any moderator action on fsae.com? I havn't seen much if any. I think most ppl like it that way, they can say what they want and if its offensive or wrong someone will put them in there place and tell them.

Also, most forums that are just plain trash just disappear down the list unless someone who is annoying complains about it and then it goes back to the top....

Mike, you guys aren't gonna make it to Detroit this year?

You probably don't remember me, but I met several of your team members last year in Detroit.

This is the site for the angle gear drive. they are tuff shit, and have near zero play. They hardly wear, and are easily greasable. Along with these good qualities, they are pretty expensive. I think the best you could do is a sponsorship, but $180 to $300 is not out of the question for one of the units.

ah, ya, we should try to get rooms next to each other in the hotel, when you guys know where your at let me know: duwem@uwplatt.edu

Did you want those rims/tires back? The tires are shot, leaky sidewalls, but the rims could be good yet if you wanted them. Let us know and we will bring 'em along.

I think the rims are yours. We have all of our sets. The tires...keep'em! haha I'm just glad we were able to help you guys out.

I'm not sure where we're staying, but I'll ask our captain. We had planned on that same place as last year, but that may change now that Big Buck is closed.
