I believe most teams (we certainly do) use "bobbins" to allow the disc to float on the hub.
We also have our calipers in single shear.

We are planning to use rcvperformance's complete FSAE halfshaft kit. But since we are starting from scratch determining the required custom halfshaft length without knowing the cv joints dimensions is quite a problem.
From what i understand, the outer joint's rotation point should lie on the steering axis intersection with the wheel axis. On the other side i'm not quite sure if there is a geometrical requirement for independent suspension. I'm not sue if it too must have the same instantaneous roll center.

Guys did anyone try welded mild steel tubes,ie not seamless?
We have problem finding seamless tubes with acceptable dimensions and are seriously considering welded tubes.
