    Hi guys

    I am looking for informations on designing the third spring or heave spring (full design)the calculations... Can anyone help to know from where to get .Any resources?

    Thanx

    Why do you need one

    (exFSAE)
    Its just my final year project to design one to be implemented on an aero fSAE in uni and I have searched on the web and books ..not much information on the mechanism of the design and how its be calculated . I mean I found the equation for calculating the third spring which is

    Krs = 4?^2fr^2mfsm – Klss/MRls^2– Krss/MRrs^2 MRr^2
    Krs = “Third spring” rate, front (N/m)
    fr = Front ride frequency (Hz)
    mfsm = Front suspended mass (kg)
    Klss = LF single wheel spring rate (N/m)
    MRls = Motion ratio of Klss
    Krss = Right front single wheel spring rate (N/m)
    MRrs = Motion ratio of Krss
    MRr = Motion ratio of third spring

    It is known how to calculate the motion ratio of the left and right spring. However, how to calculate the Motion ratio for the third spring?

    Exactly the same way you get the motion ratio for the left and right spring. Move the suspension (wheels) and see how much the spring displaces relative to that.
