Thread: Where do you buy your (handheld) fire extinguisher

  1. #1
I'm in the market for a fire extinguisher (just a handheld to have during autocross events) and looking for any thoughts as to what type, brand, and source teams might have used. I'm guessing I would be looking for a ABC 10lb but am open to suggestions. I am in the USA.

I searched but there was only a thread mainly dealing with on-board fire extinguishers and got derailed anyway...

    Thanks

    Charlie,
I suggest you get ahold of the Indy Region of SCCA at www.indyscca.org.

You could ask for Rollie Boreen (autocrosser and the FSAE Announcer), Andy Weldon (RE) or Dave Dusterberg (Race Chair). Start with Rollie. If you give me a PM I can give you his phone number.

Small handheld fire extinguishers, even up to 10 lb, can be found at some department stores (Staples, Office Max, Wal-Mart, Sears, etc).

    They aren't all that uncommon.

Have you tried wal*mart or local hardware stores? That is where I would go first. I want to say ours are from Menard's.

I know you can buy them at several places, just figured maybe it was worth asking first! I may just stop by the local hardward store.

Thanks Michael, I am actually in Michigan now, but I'll look up the local region here.

All answers meant truthfully and meant in good company.
Just needed to fill my snarky answer for the day.
