Hello all,
I'm leading up the 2012 FSAE team at Florida Tech and I was just wondering other than USF and UF are there any other FSAE teams here in FL that are active and going to competition this and next year?

We will attend FSAE2011 as spectators and then compete in 2012. The main components of the car, suspension, steering, wheel package, and chassis have been designed and are in manufacturing right now.
See you in michigan

Awesome! I'd like to see how many teams we can get out to a state wide autocross or something similar to the texas autocross.

first time visitor to this site. My stepson is in high school, he will be taking an Engineering Scholars Program course at FAU this summer. He is a gearhead, has been working with the Dwyer/Jupiter F.I.R.S.T. Robotics team for the last few years. If he ends up in Engineering, I would push for a school with an FSAE team. My question: are there regional FSAE competitions or events in South Florida which are open to the public, that we could attend, so he could see what you guys do? Any links? Thanks.

John, there are no regional FSAE events near florida. There are only two U.S. competitions a year
-May Brooklyn, Michigan
-June Lincoln, Nebraska
The active Florida teams are
UNF
UCF
UF
USF
FIT
FAU
Embry-Riddle
If he wants to see what we do I'm sure any of the Florida SAE teams would give him a tour. If not, take a drive up to Jacksonville and he can tour the shop at UNF. We have visitors all the time and love to talk about our project.
UNF also has several awesome robotics teams. The graduates from Staton's F.I.R.S.T. team typically migrate to UNF. We now have a NASA moon rover team, an IEEE robot team, as well as various others.

Given how many teams there are in Florida, we could probably have a pretty good track day.
Maybe we could organize something this summer. Here in Orlando seems to be the most central location. So maybe I can try and get something going at a local track, but I can't promise it'll be at the forefront of my mind with competition coming up. So a friendly reminder may be needed.
