A quick note to any of you who will be attending the SAE Congress at Cobo Hall in Detroit next week.

The SAE's Motorsports Activity has a half day session on Thursday, April 26th in Room D3-18 starting at 1.00 pm. There will be a total of 9 presentations kicking off with 5 aero papers including a very nice on involving some work on an FSAE car from Chalmers University. The last 2 presentations are oral only and involve safety and electric race car. The first is by a couple of people from the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) to update us on a couple of conferences organized by the NFPA and the SAE on safety standards for electric vehicles, and the second is by Doug Fraser, the organizer of Formula Hybrid, on a recent 2 day conference on rules for electric FH, FS and FSAE cars. Any of you entered or interested in FH or FSAE Electric would be advised to sit in on these.

At 4.00 pm, some members of the MSEA will be hosting a "Chat with the Experts" session in D3-19 for an hour for informal discussions on anything pertaining to motorsports. The experts include Dave Finch of Raetech, several time National SCCA B Production Champion in his Porsche 944, Ray Leto, President of TotalSim USA, an aero expert, and Wiley McCoy of McLaren Performance Technologies, longtime powertrain Design Judge at FSAE Michigan.

    Crispy,
Sorry, no, SAE policy. However, as students you can get copies of the written papers at no or little cost through your Faculty Advisor, or some other method. Others on this Forum know how.

The oral-only presentations are not available in written form, as they are just that, oral!

Bummer, but we certainly appreciate the written papers. We take advantage of the papers available through our adviser and have accumulated a nice collection.
