Thread: 2005 FSAE Team Car Specs

  1. #1
Hey everyone, I'm new to the boards. I'm from Washington U. in St. Louis Racing and I'm doing a simulation and optimization of all the cars that ran in the 2005 FSAE event. However, I have been searching websites all over for car specs that I need to run the simulation/optimization but haven't had much luck. Was wondering if anyone would be willing to post the specs of their 2005 fsae car stats here on this thread or a link to the specs.

Specs I need are, not in particular order:
    -Cost
    -Average/Max power
    -Average/max torque
    -Weight
    -Center of mass height
    -Weight distribution
-Any skidpad data/acceleration data if you are willing to divulge

Anything would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Check out last year's event program. Any of last year's teams should have one.

Cost seems to be something that everyone likes to keep secret for some reason.
For 2004 I calculate the lowest cost to be $10,575.94
    Follow the hyperlinks
    Cost
    Dyno Graphs

We recorded weights of cars as they came off the scales in Detroit 2005. We didn't get all of the teams but this is a good representation (neglecting any weigh in strategies).

The final results have times for the Skid Pad and Acceleration events.

    James,

I calculated it to be 10,575.95.... just kidding. Interesting that you have it down to the penny.

    Erick,
Actually my calculations give me - $10,575.94118. I assume that Concordia had their cost rounded to the nearest penny so I did the same. Haven't you learned how to round numbers in all your years at UTA? I'm joking. (Edit): Congratulations on SCCA Nationals.
My spreadsheet is here if anyone is curious. I'm not much of a math wiz but I can work the formula in the rules.
I would like to see some costs and scores from other years. Anyone?

    Dartmouth's info:
    Cost was $16,206.13 for 2005
Weight was 454 lbs. with half a tank of fuel.
    CG height was 12 in
    Weight dist: 47/53
Max power was 66 horses at the wheels (on the dynomite they used at comp)
We had almost perfectly flat 39 ft.lbs. of torque from 4500-11000 RPM

Erick: Congratulations on nationals! Will you still be around when we make our yearly visit this spring? I'm dying to have another go in the rodeo...
