...You should see the pics of Bill (driver) doing the moonwalk getting away from the car once he got out!!
This is obviously an oil fire, and we have deemed that the burn time of the fire was significantly INCREASED by the use of header wrap and the oil that it soaked up after the hole was torn in the engine case by the broken rod pieces. Basically, yet another reason to not use header wrap and go the ceramic coating route!
RacingGrandpa, can you send me your High-res version of that picture (if you took it yourself anyways)? Thanks man!
Does anyone by any chance have the panoramic photo in digital format? (jpg, bmp, or so)
If so please send it to masp1810.at.yahoo.com
thanks! (@ instead of .at.)
Edit: RacingManiac, StoopidSavant, Dan G (and anyone else with lots of 2006 FSAE pics) you guys should really consider to make a zip file of your pics and have it hosted somewhere for everyone to download!
Manu
In my experience a large part of the problem is that no one uses the spray on coating on the header wrap after they wrap it. The coating keeps it from soaking up the oil.Originally posted by BStoney:

no, but i did see cornell get thrown out of the endurance event for an adjustment to the front suspension during the driver change (not an oil leak)
