Thread: Fittings for fuel system

  1. #1
    Hi all

    We are using CBR 600F4i and external pump.

    I need to know what type of fittings do you use in the fuel system:

    Output fitting of the fuel tank (3/8", 1/4" or other?);

    Fuel lines inner diameter;

    Tanks

    You can use pretty much anything you want...

    Last year we went -6AN out of the tank, fuel filter and pump, then a -6AN to barb fitting, 5/16 rubber hose to the fuel line, and I believe 1/4 hose all the way on the return. Stock fuel rail.

    AN braided fuel lines all the way. I'm not a huge fan of messing around with rubber line and hose barbs. -06 AN for the fuel supply and -04 AN for the return lines. -04 AN may be sufficient for the supply as well, but I've never tried, so I couldn't say for sure.

    I agree completely on not liking messing around with rubber and hose barbs. We only used them for convenience because that's how the stock fuel rail is set up for connections.

    Edit: This was on an R6. The f4i rail has a banjo bolt type connection for the supply line.

    Yeah, we use the stock R6 fuel rail as well, but if you go to your local Parker Store, you'll find there's quite a selection of connectors and adapters to adapt AN fitting onto the stock nipples. As long as you have someone who can TIG weld relatively well you're in good shape.

    Pirtek - http://www.pirtek.co.uk/ - or agricultural supply shops.

    Peanuts compared with anything "motor-racing" barnded and fundamentally the same stuff, albeit not anodised in sexy colours.
