Thread: Texas A&M's 07 plenum

  1. #1
I had a question for the members of the 07 A&M team. When I was at Fontana last year, I asked one of your teammates about how you made your aluminum plenum for the Aprilia, and I vaguely remember him telling me that you guys had purchased it. I was looking to make something out of a similar shape for this years car, and was hoping you could point me in the direction of your supplier for this aluminum "dome". Any help you could give would be appreciated.

    Jared,

We purchased the dome then machined it and made the other components in house. I'll check on the supplier for you and get back ASAP.

A spun restrictor would be awesome.

Our team did a soun restrictor for their 2003 car. Thing cam out real well. The only problem is the flange thickness was thin and posed problems when bolting it to things.

    What material did they use?
I bet it was very lightweight.

You cant glue a flange onto it? I just finished up a carbon restrictor with 4 layers and it's about as light anything else I could imagine.

A word of caution about using carbon restrictors. They have been known to go slightly out-of-round, i.e. become oval, and fail at Tech Inspection.

It was less than .125 inches thick material.
