This isn't as funny as GM (allegedly) releasing a TSB in the mid-1950's advising dealerships to dump Bon-ami into the carburetor of a running motor if the customer complained about excessive oil consumption in their new car. I guess a can of Bon-ami was cheaper than an engine tear-down to re-hone the cylinders.....

Yep - the funny thing is, for the most part, it works! My grandpa did this in one of his tractors - apparently the rings didn't seat properly before hand.
