    Engine Development Designer - ECR ENGINES

    ECR Engines in Welcome, NC is looking to hire an experienced or entry level CAD designer in our Research and Development department. This would be a great opportunity for someone interested in engines with a solid CAD background.
    Our company primarily uses Pro/E, but also uses several other CAD systems, and training would be available for the right candidate. Since we are a small company and racing based company, we are looking for candidates who are ambitious and are willing to follow projects from beginning to end.


    DESIGN ENGINEER
    Job Description and Duties

    The Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of component, sub-system, and system design including conceptual design, prototype manufacturing and test, final design release, and implementation.
    Employee Status: Salary
    Reports to: Technical Director

    Essential Duties:

    • Perform all aspects of ECR component, sub-system, and system design:
    o Conceptual models.
    o Performance and reliability analysis as required.
    o Prototype manufacturing and test.
    o Final design release.
    o Production implementation.
    o Models/drawings complete and in accordance with ECR standards.
    o Documentation complete through the CN system including engine specification and BOM updates.
    o Help define/implement new design tools and processes.
    • Work with suppliers to assure purchased parts are properly designed and documented.
    • Work with appropriate team representatives on engine/car interface items such as fluid systems, induction/exhaust systems, mounts, and linkages.
    • Work with our in house Manufacturing facility and other machining suppliers on cost and availability.
    • Participate in meetings with preferred component and sub-system suppliers.
    • Participate in pre- and post-test development meetings to assure prototype parts are tested and evaluated properly.
    • Support GM-funded engine R&D projects.
    • Interface with ECR QC department when appropriate for failure analysis, documentation, and corrective actions. Help define inspection procedures (including tolerances) for ECR Quality Control when necessary.
    • Assist Shop Foreman with building-specific tasks relating to engine testing including facility upgrades, maintenance, calibration, and safety.
