Thread: FSAE Chassis Anlysis Problem

    FSAE Chassis Anlysis Problem

    Hi Every Body
We are first time participate in fsae competitions and have problem in chassis analysis:
First for ease of design we decided to build chassis by baseline materials so as the rules say we don't need to give analysis documentation for our chassis design or send SCRF ,but at the end of design we want to check our chassis by the conditions & forces which the rules determined for giving SCRF at rules it reminded that:
"Load Applied: Fx = 6.0 kN, Fy=5.0 kN, Fz=-9.0 kN
AF4.1.2 Application point: Top of Main Roll Hoop
AF4.1.3 Boundary Condition: Fixed displacement (x,y,z) but not rotation of the bottom nodes of both sides of
the front and main roll hoops.
    AF4.1.4 Max Allowable Deflection: 25mm"
so we want to analyze our chassis with COSMOS Works or Ansys How can I add the determined Boundary condition ?
Any picture for better guide will help
    Thank to all

    Claude,
Amin has introduced himself a week or so ago in the 'bodywork' thread.

    Amin,
It might be a good idea to add a signature to the bottom of your posts.

    Pat, Amin,

Did not notice that. I looked at the profile and there was no info. Worth to put something in the signature .

    Hi Farzaneh,

Are you asking about where the boundary conditions need to be added? (bottom nodes of both sides of the FRH and MRH).

Or are you asking how to add boundary conditions in COSMOS Works? I imagine that in COSMOS you have your chassis set up as a collection of simple beam elements, in which case you should be able to specify the restraints applicable at the node/beam ends. Sorry I can't be more specific, I haven't done FEA for a few years.

ya, I have doubt about the options which COSMOS Works has.It has only "Fixed Displacement" , the software did not specified the detail of these conditions (may I don't have clue!) New Picture (25).jpg

Give the advanced option (below 'standard') a go. Failing that, try the help files etc. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Give this a go (copy/paste the following into youtube): /watch?v=jKnfo6I6zJU

Do you have a local VAR that can assist you?

I'm sure someone on here will have done it, sorry I can't be of more help.
