    Wind Tunnel - Test Technician - Penske Technology Group

    Technician experienced in the operation of computerized test equipment needed. A.S. degree preferred, plus 1-2 years of relevant work experience. Knowledge of piezoelectric, piezoresistive, and strain gauge instrumentation, computerized data acquisition systems, and mechanical/electrical systems is essential. Background in automotive R&D preferred. Duties include automotive testing, instrumentation calibration and installation, developing and building test fixtures, basic knowledge and experience of machining and machine tools, writing test procedures, documenting test reports, interpret mechanical & electrical drawings, electrical & instrumentation wiring, mechanical component assembly and extensive computer experience.

    Role Requirements:

    • Ability to use computer controlled test equipment in an effective and safe manner.
    • Ability to interface with Engineering personnel to conduct aerodynamic, vehicle dynamic, and various research and development testing.
    • Ability to understand procedural manuals, execute work orders, read engineering drawings/CAD, and utilize precision metrology / measurement equipment.
    • Ability to troubleshoot problems and prepare reports and documentation.
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
    • Ability to solder, crimp electrical connectors, and neatly route / secure: instrumentation, wiring, cabling, looms, sensors, etc.
    • Ability to configure and secure wireless and computer networks.
    • Perform electromechanical equipment maintenance (DC motors, drives, bearings, PLC’s).
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
    • Ability to work flexible schedule and overtime occasionally; as needed, to accomplish on time delivery.
    • Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a harness and work at heights up to 20 feet above ground.
