Thread: Honda CBR600 F4i - Cylinders Nikasil coated?

    Honda CBR600 F4i - Cylinders Nikasil coated?

We have our F4i apart and it has some pretty decent cylinder scoring. I cannot find a definite answer on if the F4i is Nikasil coated or how to determine if a wall is coated or not. We'd like to find out before trying to see if a hone will help at all.

Has anyone here had a chance to find this information out?

While I haven't seen anything official (haven't looked either), it is a very safe assumption that all aluminum sportbike engine cylinders are Nikasil coated.

Post a pictures of the scoring. It might be ok to slightly hone with a grape and then run; we've done it with no problems.

Thanks for the input. Here is a reasonable size pic

It doesn't seem too terrible, but while it's apart we would like to give it some attention if we can.
