    Hi all,

The following was posted by Scott Wordley on the Monash Motorsports alumni and friends Facebook page - would love to see you all there, presuming you can get to Clayton in Melbourne. It is a bit of a kick-off event for the "new" SAE here in Oz, and aside from the social stuff and the videos, we will be talking a little about where we hope to take this society, and of course, asking your opinions as well. SAE members and non-members alike are cordially invited.

Over the coming months we wish to have similar events around Australia, so please get in contact with former and current fellow FSAEers, or any other interested engineering types, and we'll start building this network

And my thanks Scott for taking the initiative to get this rolling - a few more supporters with your enthusiasm and this society could go anywhere it wanted to.

    Cheers,

    Geoff

The time has finally come for the first official get together for all FSAE-A Alumni AND current team members! Everyone is invited, including all the other Vic teams and ex-team members.

On Thursday the 31st of May, Monash Motorsports will be hosting a BBQ and Video night... starting at 5:30pm outside our workshop (North End of Building 37, Boilerhouse Rd, Monash Clayton Campus).

Please park in the multi-storey car park at the North West corner of campus, it is free after 5pm.

$10 will cover all the BBQ'ed sausages and burgers you can eat, all the soft drinks you can drink, and desert and coffee during the intermission.

At about 6:30 we will take a quick tour of the Monash Motorsports Workshop before relocating to Lecture theatre E3 where we will screen a variety of videos including:

    - The brand new 40 minute documentary produced by the Global Formula Racing FSAE team, which is a unique, multi-national team formed by students from both Oregon State (US) and Ravensburg (GER). Just this week GFR cemented their reputation as the top team in the world by winning the very competitive FSAE-East (Michigan) competition.

    - Photos, On-track and in-car footage from this recent US competition.

    - Promotional, Launch, and Competition videos from several current Australian teams.

    - A special sneak peak at what some of our Victorian teams have planned for 2012.

We will also hear from our old friend and colleague Geoff Pearson who has recently been appointed as the new Executive Director of SAE-A. Geoff has some exciting new ideas for the upcoming FSAE competition and the society as a whole.

Spread the word and invite any current or old team members that you are in contact with.

Hope to see you there, please be sure to RSVP either here or via Facebook so that we can estimate numbers for catering purposes.

    Cheers,

    Scott Wordley

    Thanks Geoff.

I should stress that this is not just a Monash thing. We would love to see all the other local current Vic teams come down, plus any old alumni from any of these teams.

Rex Chan can you please "like" this event and promise to come?

We are surely doomed without your blessing and participation!

One of the primary purposes of this get together is to give Geoff a chance to outline
his ideas for the future of SAE-A. We would like you all to be included in this future, and think we can offer some exciting benefits to new and returning members.

As one example, the Society is in the process of registering itself as a VicRoads approved Car Club. This means that soon, you should be able to get red plate, Club Rego for your classic cars through your SAE-A membership. Overnight we could become the biggest and possibly coolest multi-make car club is Australia. Can you imagine the club's yearly nationals/show and shine at
Werribee each year? Alumni from all
over Aus (and NZ) Road tripping to comp, volunteering at the event, catching up with old mates and generally having an awesome time? Also, no more trying to make difficult small talk with weird car club types at compulsory club runs and meetings, all for the sake of cheap and easy rego...

That's just one thing we are looking into, more exciting details on the night.
    Hope to see you there.

    Scott

PS: We would also like to put the call out to teams from the recent US comp... Anyone have some cool in car vids they could share that we could
screen? If so please let me know, Scott.Wordley (at) monash.edu

PPS: Also Aussie teams... Do you have any funny old
FSAE videos, promo or launch videos from back in the
day? We need to educate the today's youth about how much faster, more reliable and better driven fsae cars used to be
    Email me!
    Regards,

    Scott Wordley

Scoring in every event for the last 12 comps running!
