Thread: RaceCar Engineering FSAE Articles

The september issue has some good info. Paul Van Valkenburgh has some good articles on the event, tire temps (so good), and innovation. I like his desire for creating an oval race (invite only). That would mix things up a bit. Hope I didnt give too much away.

I really like the thought of one competition in detroit for industry to recruit people from and a second competition that is invite only that race teams can recruit from.

And guess who took that shot? hehe

But I agree, he has a lot of good info, and while not necessarily flattering, I think he does make a very good point (as has been discussed here numerous times) about innovation vs. taking the safe path.

I haven't read the article yet, but I'm supposed to have a photo credit too.

For this shot I took of UWA's suspension...

I saw that picture in there and I thought it was you, Dan. RCE is expensive though, being a British-made magazine. My copy cost $8.

Yeah, too expensive for my blood. I'll probably buy this issue since I'm in it, but typically I just take an hour at B&N or Borders and read it every month.

I tried to get the nice lady that asked to use my shot to hook me up with a free issue or discounted subcription, but she politely ignored my request. Never hurts to try though.

Just picked it up. $9. But there's 4 separate FSAE-focused articles in there, 12 pages in all. Van Valkenburgh's V-Angles column, a separate article by VV on the importance of tire temperatures in the event, the US FSAE coverage, and the FStudent coverage. So even at $9, its a pretty good one to pick up.

I haven't even read it yet, but I did see my picture on p. 58. I've got top billing in the photo credits at the beginning of the article, even though thats the only one I think I took.

It is a great magazine but is quite expensive. I also can't buy it locally so that allows me to drive to school for a day...
