Thread: Tolerance of chassis tubing

    Is the rule that states that the min thicknesses of chassis members is(eg 1.65mm) considering tolerances or not? tolerance for the rods we are planning to order are 0.1mm. That is, we might get rods with parts of thickness 1.64mm.

    On most required dimensions is FSAE the tolerance is -0/+infinity (or visa versa).
    For things like the restrictor do NOT try to avoid the dimensional requirement by citing tolerances.

    With that out of the way...
    There have been discussions on this forum (unofficial) in the past and it was agree that tube sizes refer to the nominal thickness and diameter.
    So yes it allows for tolerances (unofficial).

    To my knowledge the rules don't address variation in tube sizes...
