Thread: Upcoming Workshops

  1. #1
A heads up for those of you in Ontario and the Mid-West (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, etc). There are two workshops coming up within the next 5 weeks that will be worth attending.

The first will be held on Saturday, September 30th at Cedarville University, which is just east of Dayton, Ohio. This workshop has been entitled the "Collegiate Road Show", and will be hosted by Cedarville University in conjunction with the Dayton Section of the SAE and the SAE's Motorsport Engineering Activity (MSEA). It will be an all-day series of seminars covering Team Organization, Project Management, and Safety in the morning, and two "tracks" in the afternoon. One will cover Powertrain Matching, "Engines 101", and Engine Calibration & Fuel Systems, while the other will cover Welding Ferrous Metals, Tires and "Suspensions 101".

While the speakers will tend to focus on Formula SAE and Baja SAE, much of the material is also appropriate for teams entering any of the SAE CDS competitions.

More information can be found at:

The second event will be the SAE's Detroit Section Formula SAE Workshop. This is its 6th year, and will be held on Saturday, October 21st at Wayne State University. It will start at 10.00 am and end around 4.00-4.30 pm. The topics that will be covered will be an Overview of the FSAE Competition, Sponsorship, Technical Inspection & 2007 Rules Changes, the Presentation Event, the Cost Event and the Design Event. There will also be an open forum where team members can discuss any topics relating to Formula that they wish. More information can be found at:

The subject matter of the two workshops is complementary, i.e. it does not overlap. Therefore, it will be worth attending both.
