Hey Adrial,
Try using Ansys workbench. Start with defining node points of the chassis and then join the hard point using the lines. U can insert points manually or use a notepad format in ansys...
Hi,
This is Apoorv from SRM University, India. We are currently in the fabrication phase of our vehicle. For our chassis main hoop we used 25.4mmX2.5mm round tubes and got them bended. After bending...
Bill,
When I said its zero at tangent speed (19m/s) above that speed positive and below that speed negative. I meant to say the slope of the line Beta=0(side slip angle).
I am not sure if both of...
Yes its zero at tangent speed (19m/s) above that speed positive and below that speed negative. Is this incorrect?

Adam whatever other graphs I have seen for FSAE cars they all go almost up to +/-3 to +/-4 degrees of steer and body slip. Which even my vehicle is also giving so I am assuming to be correct. Other...
1. When I plot my Cn-Ay diagram it gives me tangent speed at around 19m/s. When I try to plot the graph below 15m/s the solution does not converge as my yaw rate values become very Large. Therefore...
Its same as previous one!
To plot graphs below 15m/s I had to use relaxation parameter(0.7) in order to converge the solution but this changes my tangent speed to 11m/s. For 8m/s the solution does not converge unless I change...
The earlier graphs I posted are at 27m/s not at 17m/s, which I typed mistakenly. Our tangent speed is at 19m/s. Wheelbase is 1.525m
Here I am attaching images at speed 18, 19, 20 m/s

1. This is a 4 wheel model with weight transfer (for right hand cornering).
3. Steering angle front wheel is positive for clockwise direction.(It's a right hand cornering ). The lateral forces are...
CN clockwise is positive, front wheels steering is +ve for right side. Its not steering wheel angle so no steering ratio and average angle of both wheel. Fy is positive for right side! Beta postive...
Sir,
Here are the images with Legends and markings!

Hello everyone,
First of all thanks Claude, Tim, Bill Cobb and Adam for explaining us the differences between both the diagrams and about the assymetry that we got as we didn't adapt the tire...
thanks sir I will look into this and reply ASAP.
At zero slip angle tire is producing some lateral force. The inclination angle is 0, no ackerman, no compliances. The minimum slip angle in the lookup table exported from tire data is +0.0502 and...
Sir, we followed your advice and multiplied the lateral forces(Fy) at the rear by cosine of the body slip angle(beta) and then multiplied the front tire lateral forces by both the cosine of steer...
Hello this is Devansh from Srm university,chennai. I am working on vehicle dynamics for our 2nd vehicle for FSAE 2016. We have been plotting force moment diagrams for our vehicle. We first created...
@cwa
Your calculations are quite correct I know.
Today we tested our car and our brakes locked all the four wheels :) :) . Now this could mean that the mu value is not more than 1.5. Even the...
@cwa in your calculation u have considered the mu to be 2, I think its way to high. If u calculate with mu=1.5 (which i guess should quite correct) our brake system is sufficient to lock the wheels....
@claude
sir our CG height is 350mm, and what I have mentioned above is the location of CG from front and rear i.e. 0.832m from front and 0.762m rear with 48:52 WD front to rear. wheelbase 1.6m
- wheel base 1.6m
- CG Location ( Height/Weight distribution) .768m from front & .832m from rear.
-piston/caliper/disc front and rear are same
single piston and single caliper
caliper piston...
@claude
Sir, we are formula student electric not combustion team and this our first car. Hence we cannot participate in FS India.

Hello, I am SUSHIL RAI from SRM University, India. I am working in brakes domain and we are testing our vehicle for 2015 FSAE Italy event. While brake test wheels are not locking. We tested at 60...
Sir,
I am not a customer as yet. I am using the trial version for now.
I went through the help file once. Maybe, as you pointed out, I need to create a proper simulation with multiple steps...
Thankyou Sir for your reply.
Yes I am totally new to this software and as you pointed out I am only doing a quick run by entering the hard points. As you said I'll send the file OptimumG.
