I wasn't talking about the tire, surely by now most FSAE teams choose tires before wheels (a luxury we rarely have the production world!). I was referring specifically to the suspension architecture...
Understanding the interactions between inputs is the mark of a good engineer. Being able to rank those interactions in order of importance is the mark of a better engineer.
After years of careful observation (and participation), I submit the following hypothesis:
Of every topic discussed on this board, roll centers have the highest ratio of words typed in this forum...
That's all well and true, Bill (as per usual), but all this theory is going to run straight into the wheel rim or to an illegal frame design on most FSAE cars. Packaging will drive you to an ugly...
you guys are missing the point. The most important question is: is anybody on Monash dating this girl?
-ex-FSAEer who enjoys dating models much more than engineers
That's not what I said...although it certainly can be true...wish I had time to clarify...will be back to chime in later.
This is the same message I try to get through to the featherweight SAE teams...blind faith in ludicrously extrapolated tire data is a bad idea...
This is a few years old, but I had a budget of $86k cash (i.e. not including in-kind donations) in 2008-2009. We went to MIS and FSG, and the team covered the flights, cars, and part of the hotels in...
I believe all the Euro cars except GFR have been used in a previous competition.

I'd ask the Michigan team. PM me if you need a contact.
I thought the Daft Punk Pandora station was officially re-named "FSAE"...

Absolutely (my thesis was on nonlinear optimization). Which is why I often ask how people set limits on their design spaces and if they do any sampling (e.g. latin hypercube) to robustly explore them.
