I will back John up on the quality of Kettering's bender. That style is pretty easy to set up, really easy to use, and the bends are very repeatable with enough practice.

In that case, lets determine what percentage of the top 10 finishers over the last few years have been steel tube frame cars with no downforce.
Sweet.
I agree with figlio. Ive always thought that a good driver can do a hell of a lot with a bad car, but a bad driver can do next to nothing with a really good car.
Over at kettering, we feel your pain. Girls? I thought they didnt go to college. Not mine at lease.
I am a spaceframe guy, through and through. I respect the teams that design and build monocoque cars, but I would vote against it for my team. Carbon is easy to lay up to a moderate quality level,...
depends on the plastic you are referring to, the fuel you will use, liner/no liner, etc.
Sorry to see that guys, but the most important thing is that no one was seriously hurt. Thank you for that!! No flaming here- accidents do happen, no matter how good the preperation. Congrats on...
Id like to add a little something to this post- a few people on here seem to think that the addition of the mahle pwertrain package to the kettering FSAE car consisted of "buy engine, bolt into...
I didnt know that you were ADDING material to the ports. That basically reverses all my opinions on what you are doing. I assumed that you were removing port material, thus increasing area and...
Nathan, here is a link to the FSAE rule book:

It is free to download, and you can print it or whatever you need to do. I am...
My stance, as stated in my post, is that port changes alone will not show gains without significant sacrifice unless the other factors are modified for the new design goal. It is true that people...
at least this one is in off-topic....
I am a co-op student with experience in engine calibration, forced induction system design, and engine dyno operation. Is your company interested in taking on any interns?

i win.
Kettering has used the pegasus rackes for several years. they are very light, very easy to implement. their only drawback is that they require you to fabricate your own supports for the steering...
How much do you have, and how much for the whole lot??
saran wrap!!
Usually people design these for their own car.... Im not sure what your putting shocks into, but just buying rockers off of somebody is probably going to give you some very whacked out suspension...
I think maybe there is a little confusion about the heat treat process on this post. The hardness is not the goal of the heat treatment, but it is diretly related to the properties of the finished...
there is no internal reduction in a quaife diff. the gears provide the anti-wheelspin ability, they dont change the torque output to the tires.
I play a little.
I tried to change the sound of a pickup once, and ruined it pretty badly with only a small adjustment. I think making your own and getting the sound you want would be tough-...
Unless you have a very strange crank sensor setup, it will be very hard to derive a cam sync signal from the crank trigger. If you were running an 10-2 or some other weird setup where the missing...
I tend to share your fuel puddling worries, but in a road racing application (which is how i think of a formula car, even though its probably wrong) where the intake is at a high temperature and the...
Its only called cheating if they catch you.
We used an electronic system a couple of years ago, but we had trouble making everything work. Id suggest trying to find out how good the customer...
