I suspect you're not running with enough oil. You mention 3 litres? I would expect you to need over double that volume to ensure there's enough air-free oil in the bottom of the tank at all times...

I'm in the process of getting a full new gear cluster made by Nova Transmissions here in the UK for my hillclimb car, but that's an 1100 with a 6 speed cluster from a 750 so needs to be beefed up....

I built a similar cush-sprocket for my OMS Hillclimb car a couple of years ago!

"ovalled" the mounting holes in the sprocket, and then turned up some steel tubes which were set into the oval holes...

Thanks - I'll look into the H&R springs as an option. I'm very tight for space so the Tanner one's won't fit.

The car's designer had come back with a suggestion to change the rockers...

I had a look at the Tanner range of springs, but it's not clear what the ID is - some quote 34mm and some sites quote 1.625".

Does anyone know for sure if they are available in 36mm ID?

An alternative that you see at many of the UK hillclimbs is a diesel pre-heater - from Tom New at "New Techniques" (Sorry, not sure of the web address), which avoids the need for mains power....
