I'm pretty sure SAE-A is pretty close to publishing an article on developing a slip angle sensor cheaply using optical flow in one of their technical journals. ;)
As mentioned earlier, you need to...
We must of got better at asking after you left, Jay. I know that it got to $55,000 AUD recently from different parts of the University alone, along with machining, a fairly nice workshop, use of the...

Rule A1 is a good reason to design and make your own. Isn't the whole point of the competition to give students first hand design and manufacture skills, among other things.
As far as designing...
Hi spyro,
Is 12.6 the nominal voltage for lead? From a couple years back I think I remember out lead one at around 12.3. (Side not: have you looked into LiFePO4? They weigh substancially less and...
Hi Spyro,
How are you measuring the voltage? Have you viewed the battery voltage as the car is running, via your ECU or across the battery terminals? I'm pretty sure most regulators/rectifiers...
Here is Wollongong's Pushbar 4000 from last year.

Cheers,
Jay,
UWS does indeed have an engineering faculty at their penrith campus, it was one of my considerations when I was leaving high school, though FSAE reputation pretty well was one of the deciding...
Any chance you could send us your configuration file and a total engine log (logging pretty much all the engine, REF/SYNC, diag and status flag channels at 200hz) to have a look over?
Cheers,
Have you tried setting an RPM limit? According to the MoTeC software, over RPM is for when the engine exceeds the diagnostic RPM limit. It could be as simple as 5000 or whatever the engine is running...
You still haven't specified which type of cheese you are using, as previously discussed this will have a large effect on the results..
Hi Chris,
One thing that we had on one of our older cars that is still running, is the quality of wiring had deteriorated, leaving only a couple of strands to the ground line from the ignition...

I figured something was up when they took it down, as well as the one from the F1's.

Hey,
I've been searching for a couple of months now, on and off, for a specific TPS. Not that it's overly important, can always just use another of the 100's online, though it's one we've used in...
I feel, at least the inertia switch is a good idea. Cars aren't always run at comp and in the most ideal locations. Say a crash occurred in a frontal or side impact to a car, knocking the driver...
Definately liking the possible inclusion on DBW. With all the extra safety switches, seems to me like it wouldn't be any less safe, and would lead to some intresting ideas being implemented.
I always thought it was the other way around, that your car would become unstable above critical speed being 88mph. Going above this will cause your car leave a trail of fire and disintegrate,...
