Intellectual Masturbation.
That was a great answer Edward, thanks so much for all the help.
For what its worth...an interesting point I learned while in Detroit was how load variation would effect all of these...
Why must we already be looking ahead to 08'... its like the 07' season was just yesterday. Curses.
I will just third or fourth that this does seem to be one of the best things to happen to suspension kinematics. The tool is just bad ass. If they ever release it of course, I've personally been...
Ed,
Could you discuss the difference in peak friction coefficients from the test results to what we see on the track. Are there measures you are taking in this third round of testing to account...
Our team has the resources for a carbon chassis so wouldn't we be cheating ourselves NOT to use them! I don't see the disadvantages when you commit to developing a multi-year composite program that...

I would be curious to hear more about your design to seperate roll and ride damping. If your interested in talking about it, you can email me at Nomar116@ku.edu

Doherty I think what your saying makes sense and I agree RCVD seems to be discussing higher speed applications than apply to us. I read the article your referring to and what I took away was the "run...

The Jayhawk's check goes out in the next day or two.
I am definately liking the reasoning that Kerry and Donavan are providing, that in a SS turn of a neutral car there is no yaw acceleration or yawing moments. I.E The front and rear yaw moment are...
I don't know what Goodyear did to extrapolate the data but I am doing neither. I am simply picking points off their Lateral Force curves and dividing that force by the load on the tire. Doing so...
How about Steve Smith who said "The modern race car suspension, no matter what type of vehicle, should not have any amount of Ackerman built into the steering geometry." That comes from Advanced Race...
Jersey,
That makes perfect sense and is just the way I am interpreting it! But I think I/We may be missing something (??). All our teams have run Pro-Ackermann in the past with good success as...
Jersey,
Could you be a little clearer about how the yaw moment generated by the outside tire is effected by ackermann steering? The drag I was referring to would be caused by ackermann dragging...
I don't know it would just be arguing which comes first, the chicken or the egg, but it does make more sense to say that vehicle slip angle and yaw rate are both products of how your tire slip angle...

Ok, load transfer seems like a valid consideration...only if I have to that is! But maybe what I need to do is figure out how to still corner with both my inside wheels in the air if I'm...
The Goodyear data on their website is inconsistent. Reality check what you get. We run some 20x7x13's. I was using their 20x6.5x13 tire data until we get the TTC data and found Lateral Force...
I second testing for the new Goodyear D2692.
We are finally adding our names to the TTC list. I'm not sure whats taken us so long but that will drive that number up to $10,000!
So...
If I do consider the slip differences inside and out induced by weight transfer (I don't see how you could ignore this) where does that leave us? Reverse-ackermann compesates for this load...
