I'm interested in getting an f4i copy too. Thanks in advance. mark.bacchetti@gmail.com

I have developed some spreadsheets from The Shock Absorber Handbook by John Dixon to get our IR in the ballpark. The book has a fairly theoretical approach on...

DJ- I agree with you. Making a static assumption that envelopes all dynamic events can be more conservative (eg less accurate) if it's not backed up with analysis like yours. I'm curious though......
Yeah, those loadcases will represent worst case with conservatism. The conservatism in this method is there because you really don't know and don't have time to determine the actual dynamic...
Determining accurate loads from dynamic events is a fairly complicated process that requires lots of testing. Most teams attempt to envelope all events into 3 loadcases in the X, Y, and Z directions...

I have heard that automotive suspension engineers will follow the 3-2-1 one rule for initial design. This means they will design their parts for 3g bump, 2g lateral, and 1g longitudinal. However,...

We only have the pre-98 micro. Cal Poly Pomona is too cheap to get the PDF subscription (damn budget crisis!). Too bad a lot of good FSAE papers are post-99.
