Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you have seen or have saved some cool movies based on FormulaSAE. I've seen a few really good ones like "F1" made by University of Washington. I kinda made it a tradition to show a short movie at the begining of every meeting i have, so thats the reason why im asking. Thanks!

The best two fsae videos i've seen are the Washington end of year video from 2002 and the onboard footage from uta at the first formula student.
-
Eddie,
We have a new favorite here. Fortunately for me I was the one driving. I'll post something when we get the video up on the web. It's in car from Texas Motor Speedway Road Course Autocross. We had two there last year and they were extremely fun courses. Unfortunately our cameras crapped out before the October event, but the June event definitely is sweet.

You can decide how good they are- I made most of them. If you like them most have a very high resolution version. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I'm gonna get working on our 2004 video when I get my stuff out of storage. I have LOTS of raw footage from competition.

Jane Willis in the UTA '03 car on 2 wheels at SCCA Nationals.
-
Very nice vids Charlie! Anyone else?
-
We have a few on our website.
05 Pictures and Video
I like the Arroy Seco Fly-By.
-
OSU donuts is a blast. I'd like to see the Viking V-8 running on the dyno if anyone has that online.
A co-worker here was part of that engine project, He showed me a bunch of the pictures from it, it's very cool!

The video is on this page:

Who are you working with that was on the team?
-
James-
Whats up with those rear tires, they appear very narrow?
-
They are narrow tires. Our cars don't fit on our chassis dyno with the race rubber (not enough ground clearance). So we use special dyno tires. Rock hard rubber on sweet Honda steelies.
Here they are on Viking 35:

-
I understand. I think our oil pan sits on the dyno frame. We run very hard race tires on our chassis dyno. Some guys inadvertantly ran our race tires on the dyno for about an hour last year. I must say I don't think they would've lasted half a day.

what about the maryland roll over? that was quite an eye opener..
i also have a video of UTA being the last to autocross in 04. pushing like mad men up through the cones to the start line http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
i ALSO have video of the corvette that was fell into a 'puddle' from last years competition too...did anyone else see that? that was messed up. i can post, or file transfer through AIM if you want.
-
Dr. Claw, I'd love to see those. Post would be best, but I can do AIM as well. Just let me know.
Thanks!
Al
-
Hey Dr Claw, could I get those too?
I heard that someone flipped but I don't see how.
And I don't know what AIM is, do posting it would work best for me.
Thanks,

where do i post the videos? my own site is nearly filled up...so i may need some help.
-
Dr. Claw, I'll private message you my IM name, and you can send them to me. I think I have some server space to post the videos.
-
DR. Claw, sorry I didnt get your IM, but I was out. I've now added your screen name to my buddy list and set you to file transfer at will, so you can do it just about any time, my computer is on most of the day.
-
Dr. Claw,
Wow, you actually caught our nightmare before the autocross. I was really hoping to forget that one!! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif We hope to have a little better luck this year, but never know how Detroit weather is gonna turn out. On second thought, maybe we do. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
I would really like to see that video, especially if it shows us franticly trying to fix the car beforehand. Did Maryland roll over, or just roll up the hay bale barriers?
Good luck to everyone finishing up for competition!
-
No. We actually Flipped all the way over. Broke a rod end. Otherwise the car was okay.
After the competition we threw the car in a trailer and have never really looked back. We have good things in store for this years competition though.
-
when sombody says "just made it"...it doesnt begin to describe UTA's autocross. the second to last car takes off just as you guys stop pushing your car into line and i thought i'd capture the crazyness.
did anybody catch Lawrence tech's oil burning engine troubles? we fitted a big verticle exhaust pipe with a tractor flapper to our exhaust and ran it on our jacks for a little but. its pretty hillarious in an expensive, incorrectly-built-engine kind of way...i sent it to dartmouth too so they might be posted soon...
and the maryland video is on my desktop computer and is like 94 mb..its very uncompressed. does maryland mind if we show the video btw? last time it was posted they asked to take it down.
-
Dr. Claw, sorry I haven't gotten around to it, but I was busy working on the cost report for the past few days. I'll get the stuff up this week.
-
Does anyone know where the video of the team rolling over in practice last year is?
-
Here's our video from the 2006 Formula Student UK season:

Look out for the engine blow during the sprint!

The current best ever FSAE video comes from my alma mater – Western Washington University.
(It's been posted somewhere on the forum before.)
It’s a film from last year by WWU student Chris Koser.

My previous vote for best was the ’06 Hawks Racing Promo

Not sure you guys have seen our Formula Hybrid video...

But, my all time favorite is the Moke TV vids... Claude shows them at the seminars and they really capture the struggles, teamwork and joys of the entire process.

This is probably not the best FSAE video ever, but it's definitely the best video from the McGill Racing Team so far. Here's the youtube link:

My favorite from our team. Some of you may remember us from Acceleration last year.

The driver still blames the electronics guy's launch control. The rest of us still blame the driver.

I won't say this is the best, or anywhere close, but I sure had fun making it:
