    We allow some tolerance on tubing dimensions. The SES is coded with a 5% tolerance on calculated properties for area and moment of inertia. If students look they can find it, but we don’t publicize this leeway because teams will start designing to the minimum tolerance.

    The team you mentioned in India should have been allowed to compete, but only the FSAE_Michigan, FSAE_Lincoln, FS_UK, and FS_Australia competitions are participating in regulate structures rules discussions. Those four competitions have a common understanding and interpretation of the rules. The other competitions despite being invited have chosen not to participate. Particularly FS_Germany who has not join a rules conference call in two years. They appear to be heading in their own direction. It’s not been determined if FS_UK will force a re-unification or not.
