No, this is not a paying gig. But we can learn a lot together. And have some fun.

In the SoCal/Orange County area.

UPDATE:

I'd just like to thank the individuals who came from this board to help out with the race team. So far this season we have scored one race win, six second place finishes and are leading the points in H1 for the NASA SoCal region.

There are two events (4 races) left this year, but we are already beginning plans for next season. We will likely change classes in '07 and possibly run the six-race, Western Endurance Series in SoCal and NorCal. I am still looking for committed people who would like to attend most or all of the races next year. Particularly needed are information management skills, record keeping, and data analysis working with the Race Technology DL-1 data logger.

If you think this might be for you and you'd like to check it out before the end of the '06 season, please get in touch and drop in for one of the remaining two races at Buttonwillow Raceway (http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com/). Next race is Oct.14/15 and the season finale is Nov. 11/12.

Best,

Thawley

just FYI... John is a automotive photographer and a great guy to work with.

What does this mean? Well, he knows alot of people who work in the automotive/motorsports/journalism field. More importantly he is real easy to work with and has the perfect mindset for a young racecar engineer who wants to try some things out and get some more experience.

We're going to be doing some testing/development and it would be great to have another mind/set of hands.

Who takes your pics when you race, John? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It varies. I have a few photographer pals I sometimes bribe with beer. A few former photo students of mine from Santa Monica College have come out. And there are a couple of guys who are emerging professional photogs who come to my races for the practice and for my help and advice. It's a pretty good trade for me; help them become better shooters, and I get better shots of my car. Only problem is they tend to disappear once they feel they've got it down...

Always looking for volunteers if you're interested.

John,

I can help out with the data analysis in between the sessions. I am running NASA TT and I am pretty sure we attend the same events.

I am a Mech Eng by training. Work on my own car and build my own data acquisition system. Check out my blog sometimes: www.vsengineeringtrack.com (http://www.vsengineeringtrack.com).
