I bought a small twin engined RC plane from Harbor Freight for $30. Its controls consisted of forward/reverse/left/right, accomplished by giving power (or reverse power) to one or both of the props. It 'worked' about as good as one would expect. I don't doubt the ones you linked to work 10x better though, they look like a hoot.
