After having a great Formula Student Germany 2006 Event, a lot of teams already asking for 2007.

Hockenheim was a great eventside. In the moment Hockenheim and FSG are checking all possibilities for returning to Hockenheim. We are looking forward to have a final statement within the next 3 weeks.

SO if you have any special questions, just shoot me an Email. roeske(@)formulastudent.de

Some teams asking for the famous Nuerburgring, but it is just to long with 25 km. No car would finish. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Well, the ring is currently 20.8km long so it might work however regarding the top speed of a typically geared FSAE car you'd might want to take a book with you for the Doettinger Hoehe.... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Tim,

the 24 hours Racetrack includes also the Grand Prix Track, and so the track for a "real" race would be 25,378 km. If you wish we have a GPS Plat and a inboard Video from the 24 hours race this year which was made by a team suppoerted by one of the organizers of FSG.

Maybe we should do a 24 hours FS/FSAE race! Would be interesting!

But for FSG 2007 we are looking for the best track to fulfill the Students needs.

Regards Frank

Hey, you're changing the rules, that's not fair. The Nordschleife is a real track so it is sufficient for a real race ;-)

As Aachen is quite close to the ring the idea of doing a lap there arose probably within seconds after the first time we read the actual length of the endurance.

Considering there are 24h skiing and Velosolex-racing, a definite yes....;-)

Hockenheim was definetly not a bad choice! The Ring however should be able to offer similar facilities and would be cool as well. There might even be more companies around interested in seeing students racing. As you know there are some OEMs with test centers and several racing outfits and suppliers in a very close neighbourhood. And no Autobahn close to the camp ground ;-)

If an American team wants to go, how can they start the process of registration?

Frank "Ruska" Roeske

Registration process for FSG 2007 will be quite simple, like last year.

First of all the registration will open on the 1st of February 2007. The number of cars will be limited like 2006. In the moment we are working on a detail simulation, how many teams we can handle in 2007. The registration will be on a first come first serve base.

Here is a short description how it works:
1. Register your team on the Formula Student Germany Website FSG Website (http://www.formulastudent.de)
2. Create a Paypal account, because FSG uses Paypal for the registration.
3. Wait until the 1st of February 2007 12:00 am GMT and login
4. Choose your Car number from the list
5. Pay the registration fee in a 3 day period
6. Go back in your Workshop and build your car.

All paperwork, like SEF, IAD, Cost Report, Design Report etc will be done by an upload function in your team area on the Formula Student Germany Website. FSG Website (http://www.formulastudent.de)

I wouldn't advise anyone to even think about driving on the ring. It would be ridiculously dangerous, and I would bet someone would get badly injured. There's a reason it's the Green Hell - it's an amazing, yet very dangerous, track!

Great to have more teams there! How about sleeping arrangements, still in the woods?

Hey Frank,

Great to hear we are back at Hockenheim next year. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hopefully with a few more places the event will get a few more teams from far flung places like Japan, the States and of course a few from good 'ol Aus...

Hockenheim was great!

We´ll have to improve our sauna a bit for next year so that we can sit there.

Oh and few mods to the car also. Hopefully there will be something little more flat for the track than in 2006...

On a more serious note, we had a chat with the Cardiff lads at the AutoSport show and some of them were well up for coming down as spectators for 4 days of booze, banter and bastardising pedal go-karts with F4i starter motors again...

Anybody not going as part of team fancy a ride down with us? The teams last year were extremely welcoming of us cheeky so&so's stealing BBQ space to cook our grub, setting up camp under their marquees or generaly draining their beer supplies and we'd love to pass on the hospitality this year! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Those starter motor go-karts should be given a separate event, along with the team boat-race.

As far as I can make out Strathclyde is registered as well, Im on exchange in the states for a year so I'll probably not be going as an official team member (and therefore inelligeble for alcohol testing?).

I could be tempted for a few days of beer and nonsense, kilt and all....

Hopefully I'll be judging at FSG - Thanks for asking Frank http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I can't do FS in the UK this year because of a MotoGP clash, so it will be great to still do a comp.

Good luck to all the entered teams - see you in August.
