Not a job in the racing industry, but as a former team leader of a successful FSAE team I know that the kind of person that does well in FSAE is the kind of person we want to hire. We're a startup in the transportation industry that just got decent funding and are looking to hire an entry level mechanical engineer. Job posting pasted below (send all inquiries to chorrell@atdynamics.com):

R&D Mechanical Engineer in CleanTech Start-Up Company

Company Overview: Advanced Transit Dynamics, Inc. (ATDynamics) is an early stage company dedicated to the rapid commercialization of fuel efficiency technology in the global transportation industry. Third party testing at the end of 2007 confirmed the fuel savings and greenhouse gas emissions reductions of the company's high profile aerodynamics technology for tractor-trailers. The company has recently raised capital and is now expanding its product line in the global trucking industry.

Position Overview: Ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background in mechanical design and prototype fabrication, with the ability to work with a team of mechanical engineers to generate product ideas and then take ideas from concept to large-scale production. Candidates with interest or experience in the trucking, automotive, aerospace or manufacturing sectors are preferred.

Candidate will support complex new product development efforts by executing engineering tasks including research, design, prototyping, and validation as well as working with component vendors and contract manufacturers. This candidate must have a desire to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced start-up environment and play a crucial role in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependency.
